Astronomers agree that there are many tiny, white dots in space, probably stars, and that space is, indeed quite black, based on the background color of the image. We are receiving the photographs and they do appear to be in focus. This means that everything is in working order.
Unfortunately, we cannot ascertain the exact position of the telescope as we forgot to put a location device on it. But we know that it’s out there somewhere, and that feels like a success.
