ALTSpace

Social VR platform, altvr.com is set to close on March 10, 2023. The platform has existed for seven years and was bought by Microsoft several years ago.

ALTSpace was a place where VR nerds, kids and adults gathered to do nerdy things. Unlike Ready Player One, they were unable to save The Oasis and everyone just moved to VRchat instead. We still have our cool trailer park though!

Virtual Reality

Virtual Reality has become the preferred reality for many people who want an immersive experience that is better than their current reality .

IRL: You’re a small, timid person with social anxiety.

VR: You’re a giant robot that shoots fire out of its eyes!

IRL: You are wheelchair bound.

VR: You can run and fly and are sometimes The Amazing Spider-Man!

IRL: You have modest means and live in a small apartment.

VR: You’re home space is a mansion in the style of Bruce Wayne’s Batcave and your bathroom is the size of a small house!

Asylum seeker

Adult seeks permanent asylum in VR

I’m sick of all this shit. Just upload me to the metaverse already! I’m tired of loading the dishwasher, fighting traffic, going to bed on time, working and not getting paid enough, politics, religion and war. There’s a better place; a better way. It’s called BONELAB and it’s waiting there for me!

In the “real world” I’m just some idiot driving, a moron walking around or a complete jackass standing in line. In Virtual Reality, I’m driving a go cart on the moon! Here I’m just some schmuck, but in VR, I can be a young Japanese girl or a friggin’ robot.

What am I gonna do here? Pay some stupid bills for stupid stuff I don’t even need? Work my way up the corporate ladder? I can climb a ladder so high in VR and just dive off! Won’t even die or nothing.

I guess I should take a shower. Probably take a dump first. Still can’t do that in the virtual world. Well, you could, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

It’s not the Metaverse, it’s 10 times worse

Waking reality worse than metaverse nightmare.

In a 24-hour experiment, a participant was asked to perform certain specific tasks in Virtual Reality in order to better understand it’s effects on humans. Dr. Unc was monitoring the participant through the night, but had fallen asleep. When the doctor awoke, he found that the subject had also fallen asleep.

Dr. Unc tried to wake the subject but subject was in a comatose state and no contact could be made with him. When Dr. Unc tried to remove the headset, the man began screaming and thrashing about violently, so he re-attached the headset and the subject immediately went back into a calm, submissive state. The study suggests that our current waking reality is worse than the worst metaverse nightmare experience, as the subject seems to prefer the VR nightmare metaverse to “real life”.

A monitor that was attached to the headset showed what the subject was seeing in the VR headset. The images were so horrifying that Dr. Unc quickly disconnected everything.

Due to the extreme graphical nature or the imagery, the video will never be shown to the public.
